Jennifer Hall (Jen) currently serves as one of Atlanta Public Schools' Educational Technology Specialists (ETS). As a member of the Instructional Technology Department, she works with teachers to integrate technology into their standards-based lessons.
Jen had the joy of being a middle school language arts teacher for seventeen years, teaching gifted language arts for nine years.
Along with teaching gifted ELA classes, she served as the Grade Level Director of the Gifted & Talented Academy, Communications Ambassador (Managing the school's website, Twitter, Facebook, & Youtube channel), School-Level Gifted Contact for the District, and the "unofficial" school photographer.
Her passion is technology integration and curriculum development. Her former students would tell you that she loves all things tech. In 2014, she served as one the district's Demonstration Classroom Teachers.
In 2013, Jen was selected as one of 10 Atlanta Public Schools' educators to receive the Atlanta Families' Award for Excellence in Education (AFAEE). The award afforded her the opportunity to expand her Shakespeare Student Film Project. One of her proudest moments as an educator, her 8th graders were featured on WSBTV's People 2 People.
Jen served as a curriculum writer for the district's Gifted and Talented Department. Several of her thematic units have been utilized throughout the school district.
During the 2011-2012 school year Jen was selected as one of five national teachers of the year by izzit.org. She have been recognized as a Georgia Distinguished Educator of the Year for middle school. In 2005-2006 she was J.E. Brown’s Teacher of the Year (TOTY) and an Atlanta Public Schools Middle School Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist.
Before moving to Atlanta she taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade language arts, for five years, in an Alternative Education program in Tallahassee, Florida.
Jen holds both a bachelor’s degree in English Education and a master’s degree in Reading Education and Language Arts from Florida State University.
Proudly, Jen is a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) in the area of Early Adolescence – English/Language Arts.
